چکیده

Abstract Numerical results of a two-layer depth-averaged model pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) were compared with an experimental PDC generated at the international eruption simulator facility (the Pyroclastic flow Eruption Large-scale Experiment (PELE)) to establish minimal dynamical PDCs stratification particle concentrations. In present model, in is modeled as voluminous suspended-load layer low volume fractions ( $$\lesssim {10}^{-3})$$ ≲ 10 - 3 ) and thin basal bed-load higher $$\sim {10}^{-2}$$ ∼ 2 ) on basis source condition experiment. for suspended load quantitatively reproduce time evolutions front position thickness PDC. The numerical deposit thicknesses depend assumed value settling speed bottom bed $${W}_{\mathrm{sH}}$$ W sH ). We show that simulations agree well data, when set about $$1.25\times 1.25 × m/s. This two orders magnitude smaller than predicted by hindered-settling model. small considered result from decreasing effective deposition due erosion process accompanied saltating/rolling particles load.

Experimental Investigation of Porosity, Installation Angle, Thickness and Second Layer of Permeable Obstacles on Density Current

This study explored the effect of porosity and installation angle, thickness (dimension) and second layer of permeable obstacles on density current control and trapping in the laboratory. For this purpose, an insoluble suspended polymer and two types of groove and cavity obstacles made from plexiglass sheets were selected. The experiments were conducted with two different concentrations, five d...

Simulation of entrainment near a density stratified layer: Laboratory experiment and LIDAR observation

In this paper a simple qualitative model of the growth of a mixed layer adjacent to a uniform layer with a stably stratified layer is presented. The depth variations of mixed layer can be estimated from direct measurements. The Entrainment of a stably stratified layer into a turbulent mixed layer in a confined region was studied in laboratory for different Richardson numbers. The internal waves...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...
